A sample
When his mother says your Japanese is good
いえいえ、まだまだです。もっと話せるように頑張ります。
"Oh no, I still have a long way to go. I'm working on it." Modest, but not self-deprecating. A plain "thank you" can sound like you agree.
Handing over your gift
〇〇のお菓子です。よろしければ皆さんで召し上がってください。
"These are sweets from [your home town]. Please enjoy them together." Naming where it's from gives everyone something to talk about.

Questions
Who checks this?
Every line is checked by a native Japanese speaker, so nothing goes out generated and unchecked.
Is the audio a real person?
No. The audio uses an AI Japanese voice. A native speaker listens to every line and regenerates any that sound off, so the pitch and rhythm match how people actually speak.
How much Japanese do I need?
None to start. Every line comes with romaji, an English meaning, and a note on when to use it.
Is this an app?
Not yet. It's a PDF and audio you can study on your phone before the visit.
My partner's family is from a region with a strong dialect.
The kit uses standard polite Japanese, which is understood and appreciated everywhere. Your partner can tell you which local words are worth adding.
